DFP Newswire is operated by Dismal Freedom Press ("DFP," "we," "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use freewire.dismalfreedom.press (the "Wire").
Subscribers. When you subscribe to email updates, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name and organization. We use this to send notifications when new press releases are published on the Wire.
Release submitters. When an organization submits a press release, we collect the contact name, email address, phone number, organization name, and website provided in the submission form. This information is published as part of the release's media contact block.
Advertisers. If you create an advertiser account, we collect your name, email address, company name, and payment information processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Outreach contacts. We maintain a contact list of public communications addresses for organizations in California's Central Valley, gathered from public sources, for the purpose of distributing information about the Wire. These are organizational contacts, not personal.
Usage data. We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and browsing behavior through cookies. See Section 4 for details.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Subscriber notifications are sent only to confirmed subscribers (double opt-in). You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or visiting /unsubscribe.
Outreach emails sent to organizational contacts include an unsubscribe link. We honor all opt-out requests promptly.
Google AdSense serves advertising on the Wire and may use cookies to show personalized ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
Google Analytics collects anonymized traffic data. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Stripe processes payments for advertiser accounts. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, after which your record is marked inactive. Advertiser account data is retained for seven years for financial record-keeping purposes. Release submission data, including media contact information, is retained indefinitely as part of the published record.
We use HTTPS for all connections. Subscriber and advertiser data is stored in a secured database not publicly accessible. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and no card data is stored on our servers.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Please see our California Privacy Notice.
The Wire is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Wire after changes constitutes acceptance.
